The Karl Lagerfeld Controversy

Karl Lagerfeld, designer for Chanel and Fendi told German Magazine Focus that fashion is about, “dreams and illusions, and no one wants to see round women.” Ever since he made that comment he has made a lot of people angry. Questions have been raised like "Will people still buy his clothes after he made this comment?" and "Should he have made that comment when rumor has it he used to be big himself?" I don't know what to think honestly like I love Karl's designs, he definitely has talent but I never bought any of his stuff and I may not for a while for the simple fact that I can't afford it. Will I continue to show him love though? I don't know. So I want your opinion readers. What do ya'll think of this?

My Current Obsession: Melody Ehsani Rings

So I've been seeing these three finger rings around for a little while on such stars as Keri Hilson, Alicia Keys, Rihanna, Diggy Simmons, and Angela Simmons. I automatically fell in love with these bad boys because they are so HOT! I definitely want one with my name on it for Christmas. Melody Ehsani is a super dope shoe and accessory designer. She says "My style is inspired by paradox, controversy, justice, and pushing the envelope in showing that you truly can't judge a book by it's cover" The three finger ring goes for $48.

Chanel Iman and Jourdan Dunn

I've finally read the latest Teen Vogue issue with Chanel Iman and Jourdan Dunn on the cover. I absolutely adored the pictures taken of them by Patrick Demarchelier which shows why they are two of the biggest models out there. The article was also really great showing how the modeling world is still a little discriminating. I didn't think it was still like this but apparently it is. Chanel stated in the article by Jane Keltner that "You're being told, 'So and so is only booking one black girl. It's either you or Jourdan....." I was so shocked that this could still be going on especially with all the other beautiful ethnic models that are out like Arlenis Sosa and Sessilee Lopez that I've seen in many runway shows but then I notice they are not in every runway show. You think with all that has happened this past year with us having an African American president and all that we wouldn't look at color in the fashion world but apparently some still do. Seriously who would say "So and so is only booking one black girl" ?! Really I thought when booking models for a runway show it just depended on who was good and who could rip the runway. More into the article you find out this is what made Jourdan and Chanel not as close as before. The girls noticed it was stupid what they were doing and came to a compromise. Jourdan said "We said 'Why are we fighting? It doesn't make any sense,'" Chanel agreed saying "The only way to improve the situation is to come together." and this is how this story got put together really. My favorite quote was by designer Alexander Wang who basically said what I thought. "For some designers, it's their 'thing' to make a statement with a black girl, but I just cast who I think is cool."

Moment of Flyness: Dawn Richard

Dawn Richard from the used to be girl group Danity Kane is now doing her thing with a new group called Dirty Money. Dirty Money is basically the crew you see whenever Diddy is at an awards show and he has two girls with him welp that's Dirty Money. The other girl in the group is Kalenna. There new single "Love Come Down" is out now! Ok enough promoting back to fashion! I found this pic on Dawn's twitter and I loved it! She said she was swag surfin'. The whole white and black thing is really nice and I am most definitely feeling the leggings! She swag she's surfin'!

Dsquared² Spring 2010 RTW Collection

This seasons theme for Dsquared² was a camp theme. According to style.com they had a woodsy scene, complete with a pair of tents lit by chandeliers and mirrors propped against the trees. You definetely get that feel when you view the whole collection. What were the models rocking this year? Last season it was Starbucks cups and magazines. This season Budwiser's and Band-Aids to match the woodsy feel. Overall I like it especially the shoes.

Gimme More!

I was flipping through my People: Style Watch magazine again and they had beauty products from around the world. I seen this nail polish and the Punk Polish caught my eye. I liked the color and the bottles they had the nail polish in. The names they created for the nail polishes were really cute like Pastel Polish for Nice Nails, Pretty Polish for Neat Nails, and Punk Polish for Neon Nails. The nail polish was made by Eyeko Makeup in London, England. The american price for it is $5.50 and shipping is free! http://www.eyeko.com/

You can have your cake and eat it to!

I was flipping through my recent issue of People: Style Watch and they had an article called "Guilt-Free Shopping". They had buys in there that they say you should buy Just For Fun or stuff that is Worth The Money. As I was scanning the page I came along these boots that are knee boots and ankle boots all in one. Now I know your wondering how can that be? Well they simply just have a zipper at the ankle of the boot as you can see that disconnects the top part of the boot. These bad boys by Colin Stuart go for $149. Do you think there worth it? Check them out at www.victoriasecret.com

My Current Obsession: Chrisette Michele

If you havent been listening to this soulful singer I say you need to get on this! Chrisette Michele is the real deal. She has a great voice and great lyrics to match. My favorite songs by her are What You Do and Notebook. But of course what I like the most is her hair which is so dope! Compared to the long hair she has had before this brings out her face more and shows off her beauty. Check out her video for What You Do with a cameo made by my boy Pooch Hall!

Moment of Flyness: Kelis

She's still the boss!
